Default Multiple pets.

My beastmasters whish :

I would like the skill [charm animal] to be replaced by a skill [Pet - petname] after charming an animal.

The [Pet] skill will then be equivalent to your charmed animal.
If you bring that skill you have that pet with you.

You can then bring the skill charm animal to charm another animal. This will allow you to keep any animals you have charmed in the past and to equip any one you like.

I know there have been other threads about suggestions to make you reatin pets instead of giving them away. I want to go even further :

Multiple pets extention :

You can equip all [Pet] skills you want at the same time. Taking multiple [pet] skill's in on your skill bar allows you to take multiple pet's at the same time.
Make the number of equipable [Pet] skills depend on your level in beastmastery. You can equip 1 pet skill + 1 for every 2 ranks in beastmastery.

Some beastmastery skills would work on all your pets at once. I'm thinking of the buff-shouts like call of haste, ottyugh's cry, call of protection.
Most beastmastery skills would need a target pet. I'm thinking of the attack skills here, but also protective bond, comfort taret pet etc... Make them target your first life pet automatically. Sure I'd like to have them work on all pets as well, but that would be too overpowered.

This would mean having to rework the entire beast mastery skill line.
It would be so awesome to be able to take more than one pet.

Would this be overpowered ? You bet ! That's why I like it.
BUT a necromancer can allready bring 10 minnions, and he needs only 1 skill slot to do this. He gets to choose between ranged and melee,
It would not be worse for balance than a MM I think.

If balance is a problem, we can allways make this a new PvE only skill [Signet of pet capture]. Buy one for each new pet you want to permanently capture. That way Anet can use this as a little gold sink. :-) ) And making it a PvE only skill would make it impossible to do this on your heroes.

I'm not expecting Anet to implemtn this, but wouldn't it be cool ?

i have suggested this, so yeah it would be cool. Since none of the pets are any different in attacks or abilities it doesnt matter. it would be like changing clothes. more for the look than anything. Spend enough cash and you could have one of every charmable animal. that would make you a true beast master. Though dervish warriors idea might make anet happier.

Maybe its a memory isue. and all the extra pets (like the arguement for storage) would eat up band width.

I would change it to 1 pet every 4 att. points

I wouldn't think of this as overpowered. Not if their is a limit of 3 pets for a secondary ranger and 4 as a primary.
Necromancers still get a max of 12, but their minion's health decreases, so that would even out with the Ranger's 4 pets with no health degeneration.

I can imagine it now, a real bastion of the wild.

want beast masters, which have up to 3 pets at their side, then we can really talk about having a beast master in the game.

but anet is too lazy to change the pet system and to balance it, when they would enable a maximum of 3 pets out ... would mean WORK !!! uhh, bad bad word ...

but balancing would be somewhat of easy:

- lower max levels of pets to 15
- each pet has to be 1 Skill Slot in the bar
- lower attack power of pets slightly

and boom, pets system would be balanced for having max 3 pets

This would also increase the attraction to the Beast Master line. It's always a good thing to broaden the use of skills.

I agree with Phoenix's idea of lowering the max levels of pets to 15 when having multiples, and reverting to 20 at single, but haing the attack power reduced seems unnecesary.

Having more than one pet would finally make me accept the fact that comfort and charm animal need to be 2 different skills and take 2 skill slots. If I can add more pets, then that extra skill slot to be able to heal and res them does not feel so wastefull.

They could change Comfort Animal to ressurect the nearest dead pet, and maybe introduce a mass pet ressurection skill that requires 20 energy, with a 20 second recharge and 3 second casting time.

I could see R/P's being used for Command with shouts to buff the pets as well...that would be interesting.

PvP players have right to unlock pets too.

This would add a system they could use too.
So they won't just have Wolves.

My thought was when you use charm animal it would give you a new skill/signet for that type of animal. So you can have one rat, bear, moa... whatever. Then you could replace the current, say a jurai rat, with a new one... like the albino if you wanted to. That would limit the number of "pet placeholders" a little bit.

While I understand the appeal of having multiple pets, gameplay-wise it seriously unbalances things.

Well, not sure I'd agree with being able to use multiple pets in game, but I do want to be able to keep multiple pets. Make them like asura summons. You can only carry one at a time, but you can choose different types. So like the summons, there are mursaat, naga, djinn and ice imp, but you can only use one at a time. So for pets, maybe you could have like wolf, bear, rat, lizard etc. Multiple types to choose from but you can only use one at a time. And you get the multiple pet types from the signet of pet capture idea. After you charm the pet, the signet changes into the pet and you have to buy a new one if you want more than one pet.
